The Lockheed P-38 Lighting is a World War II-era American fighter plane. The P-38 is built with twin booms and a central nacelle which contains the cockpit and central armaments. Nicknamed the “fork-tailed devil” by the Luftwaffe and “two planes, one pilot” by the Japanese, the P-38 was the most successful aircraft used in the Pacific Theater.
