The third generation Volkswagen Passat with factory index B3 celebrated the world premiere at the Geneva motor show in March 1988, then began its sales in the European market (to North America the car reached in 1990, and to the South-only in 1995). In total, until October 1993, about 1.6 million such “Passats” were produced, after which the model underwent a deep modernization and was transformed into a VW Passat B4. Volkswagen “Passat” 3rd generation has a somewhat controversial design, but at the time it was one of the most streamlined cars produced EN masse (its result is good and still – an indicator of aerodynamic drag 0.28).
