Despite the enormous love fans have for the Kenshi that came out last year, the game still has a few problems and here, as always, the diligent modding community has stepped in to help solve most of them thanks to some very handy mods. And in the list below we have collected the best add-ons for the game!
Note: if you have already tried to search for mods for Kenshi using the Steam and Nexus platforms, you have probably noticed that there are significantly more options available in the Workshop than in Nexus, although usually the opposite is the case.
This is because in many cases, modders have stopped updating versions for Nexus Mods during the game’s long open beta. If a mod doesn’t work on this site in the full version, there is a good chance that it will be in the Steam master.
Here is the list of top mods.
Without any doubt, you need lightsabers in Kenshi, and anyone who says otherwise is not your friend!
When you start a new game with this mod, you get four characters with lightsabers of random colors. Unfortunately, they are not light sources (yet), but maybe the modder will release a new version?
DownloadA lot of work has been done when creating this mod, thanks to which an entire village full of monks with unique clothes, dialogues, and lots of new items and types of furniture has been added to the game.
After downloading Martial Village, head to the "Fields of Bones" biome in the south of the map, where you will find the new location.
DownloadThis mod is without a doubt one of the most popular, and for good reason. Thanks to it, unarmed, captured prisoners can be recruited, and they even have unique dialogues.
In addition, the mod allows for the recruitment of creatures such as the fogman.
One problem may arise, however - some users have reported that after installing the mod, tower guards will be inactive when the prisoners are in their cages.
In some cases, turrets may shoot recruits when you recruit prisoners. In any case, just save and reload the game to fix the problem.
DownloadIn terms of maintaining interest in the game, mods like this are a must. Moar Unique Dialog adds additional dialogs for dozens of unique recruits.
Be sure to use this mod in combination with the previous one for maximum effect.
DownloadThis is another must-have mod, along with Recruitable Prisoners.
Once your character survives, it's time to assemble a squad to help you succeed in the post-apocalypse. The problem is that in order to create your own army, you'll need more space than the original version of the game allows.
That's why this mod is needed, because it increases the recruit limit to 256, the maximum number of recruits available for a squad to 50, and the maximum number of squads to 20.
If you are loading multiple mods, this one should be placed at the very bottom of the loading order. Many add-ons change the values in the game's data tables, and this also applies to the recruit limit.
DownloadInteresting Recruits adds some pretty interesting recruits when hired in taverns.
From a cannibal to an unrecognized scholar, and even a samurai... There's something special about each of these seven recruits. Here's the list:
This mod allows you to explore and create cushions, shelves, benches and many other interior objects. Note, however, that some objects will still look like decorations, and the character will not be able to sit/leave on them.
DownloadDo you want more money and more goods in the stores? This mod dramatically increases both in many of the stores you can find in the game. It also changes the base values so that the store inventory is updated faster.
Important note: do not use this mod with other store mods, as they are incompatible with each other.
DownloadAfter installing the Dark UI, all elements of the game interface take on a cleaner and darker appearance, which is much easier to navigate.
Note, if various menus seem stretched or you can't read the text, you just need to change the screen resolution in the settings to 1920×1080, and the problem is solved.
DownloadSimplifies significantly the management of the storage. Now, instead of creating different buildings for certain types of resources, you can build a large warehouse.
The mod also adds several decorations that can be placed next to the storages.
DownloadInstead of training your recruits with stone-filled backpacks, you can now quickly increase their strength by building a weight bench.
Note that you have to unlock the training dummies first, and the weight bench is in the "interior" tab of the building menu, not the "training" tab.
DownloadTired of often stumbling upon deserted, boring cities as you play? With this mod, every major settlement gets significantly more interactive characters; it also improves NPC behavior.
Citizens will now buy things from stores you own, and they all have more realistic routines, such as buying goods, engaging in various activities, and going home at night.
DownloadDo you want to know exactly where the boundaries of each biome are without leaving the game or going online?
This mod displays biome boundaries on top of the regular map. If you don't like the bright hues of the biome, which don't quite fit in with the overall color scheme of the game, here is also a black and white version of this mod.
